Tribute to JANUKA by Caspar James

I met members of JANUKA first at a fundraising party in London and was immediately overwhelmed by their warm hospitality and boundless energy; dancing quadrille in between serving up courses of delicious food and fine drinks!

I was determined that they should come to Norwich where myself and my organisation, Culture Crossroads, have put on a number of cultural events to mark Black History Month.

We were lucky enough to have 18 dancers and their friends for the trip and despite a very busy schedule we had so much fun! The group always gave so much more than expected; an afternoon quadrille demonstration at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (The University of East Anglia) turned into a bountiful celebration of Jamaican culture with storytelling, song and dance workshops and costume making too.

Norwich has never been the same since!

Thank you JANUKA and keep up the great work.
