I remember as a little girl I was told that Queen Elizabeth was visiting Jamaica and I was chosen to dance the Quadrille for the Queen, so we performed at Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay. I always love to dance, and continued dancing at various festivals in Jamaica. When I came to the UK as an adult, a member of the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) asked me to dance quadrille for their concert, bringing back fond memories. Since then, my interest in Quadrille dancing has increased and I continue to learn more steps, and about the history and context of the dance. The JANUKA Quadrille dance group provides the opportunity to share, learn and dance.
