I am Wycliffe, better known as Cliff. I came to the UK in 60s, from Kingston Jamaica. I am a confident and gregarious person, trustworthy and empathetic with a tendency for adventure. I am a faith believing Christian and participate in church activities regularly. My hobbies include, playing the guitar, tennis, skiing and travelling.
Over the years I have worked in the civil service; radio and satellite communication; gained BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronics Engineering; MSc and PGCE qualifications. I am currently a college lecturer in electrical engineering.
I have been a friend of JÁNUKA since its conception in 2007. Over the years I have enjoyed attending various rehearsals and performances. Prior to joining JÁNUKA in 2021, I was a jazz and later salsa dancer for over 20 years. I joined because of my love of dancing and the physical exercise that it offered.
I enjoy quadrille dancing because it relates to my cultural heritage; celebrates the resilience and fortitude of my ancestor’s indomitable will to survive during their barbaric enslavement. It gives me a sense of gratitude to them, in my participation with other like-minded individuals and the camaraderie we share. I am aware of my shared responsibility, to promote the history and skills of quadrille dancing for future generations.
