I am a born Jamaican. I came to the UK in 2000. I heard about JANUKA in 2010 from a member of the dance group, and joined in 2021 because I had more time and needed some kind of recreational activity. I also love drama, singing and dancing, so JANUKA was a good place to start.

I knew about quadrille from my elderly relatives while growing up. It was quite exciting to watch them dance. Since joining JANUKA, I realise that commitment to learning the different dance steps and dancing in synchrony with others dancers is vital. I enjoy dancing the quadrille, knowing that it was danced by our ancestors and every dance movement tells a story.
